Languages

The topic of this week is "Languages". For me, languages can be really frustrating. I would like to understand English more quickly; sometimes I can, but other times I don't know what's happening and I just don't understand anything. However, I have to learn English if I want to start my major here. Maybe learn another languages like French or Italy can be easier than English for me because Spanish and those Languages have some similitude. Two weeks ago in Speaking class Julie asked us " If you find a genius and he tell you that you have just one wish, What wish do you want to say?" I said " have infinite of wishes, but Julie said "I would like to speak fluency all the languages". After that I have been thinking about that, but I think that I just have to enforce more every day, sometimes can be frustrating but it's the only way to be successful in the languages.

Man vs Women

In Venezuela, women have been improving their skills in a lot of areas. Actually, in the past election were two candidates that were women; the Venezuelan women are popular for her beauty around the world; we have won 7 Miss Universe, but we don't have any kind of battle between women and men because in Venezuela the men know what they have to do, and the women too. Maybe the only difference between Venezuelan women and men is in the job because sometimes the salary is better for men or it's easier to find a job for men than women.

Win 10$ Million in Lotery

Of course that with this topic I can imagine a lot of things to do, write or just dream. Money, who doesn't like money? What is that question? It's even better if you win the lottery!!! and with 10$ million I can do a lot of things. For example, open my own business, while I continue my education, buy my own apartment and car, and I can open my own foundation for help my country; I have a lot projects in my brain, so the list of what I can do with 10$ million? can be very large, but this blog have to be short so that it's all for this amazing topic, maybe I'm going to continue dreaming with those 10$ million.

CRIME?

Well, for this article is going to be shorter than the last one, because I thought that the articles had to be a complete article but doesn't, It's more like my opinion than a real article. If you want to talk about some topic of course this topic is not a good topic for talk because depends of the country or just maybe with the people; who you talking was a victim of the crime one time in his life. Here in Calgary I have never seen a crime (or heard of one), but I have heard about some crimes in Alberta. I really don't want to compare the crime in Canada with the crime of my country because "crime is crime here or in china" (if somebody doesn't know, it's like an expression).  In conclusion, my point is that in the world have a lot of people someone are good and the another not so good, and in whatever place that you are, you have to take care.

Topic of the week: EXTREME SPORTS!!!

This week we have a new topic for our class, and is a controversial topic because for somebody it's really exciting but for other can be really afraid, so depend of the person that you are, this blog (or article) can be a successful for you. In my opinion, I really like the adrenaline but sometimes some sports are very aggressive for do it, so I can enjoy just watching when the sport is really EXTREME. 

However, I think if we are discussing about one topic, first we have to explain What means? so,Wikipedia says that Extreme Sports: "Is a popular term for certain activities perceived as having a high level of inherent danger". Now that we know what "extreme sports" means, I wiil show the most popular extreme sport according with some investigation (about me):

  1. The Skydiving:

It's basically jumping from an airplane, and then you have to use a parachute. I will put a link for practice skydiving in Calgary if someone want to life this exciting experience.

   2. Bungee Jumping:

Well, I think that the people love jump from everywhere and feel the freedom or the sensation that is like a bird, because how you can see two of the most popular extreme sport is about jump, but the difference between Skydiving and Bungee is that in skydiving later a few minutes you can open your parachute and "fly" and in Bungee just jump with a rope that help you to don't fall down with the earth (floor). 



  3. Rafting:

The third and last one extreme sport more popular is Rafting, and  definitely if I have the opportunity to do some of these three  extreme sport I will prefer Rafting, because in rafting you have a lot of adrenaline but you have a lot of thing that can help you to be successful and is more time practicing than in Skydiving and Bungee Jump. The other reason it is a good idea because you can do it with your friends or family, and shared and spend time with the people who you like, or just meet new people.

Welcome To My Blog!

WELCOME TO MY FIRST ARTICLE OF MY R&W BLOG!

I am studying in the ESL program in the U of  C. Basically, I will upload shorts articles for my Reading and Writing Class. My first assignment is create my blog (so.. done), and the second, is write something about myself and well... I am Selene. I am from Venezuela. I am 21 years old, I look very young and anybody in Calgary  don't believe me when I say my age so, sometimes I need to show my passport but it's okay I can understand. I love the soccer. My favorite soccer team is FC Barcelona and my favorite soccer player is Lionel Andres Messi. I came to Canada on January 11th but I was in Fort McMurray first. I think that I prefer Calgary but Fort Mcmurray it's pretty good too. Calgary have a lot of things to do and I think that is the reason that why I prefer Calgary, so if you have the opportunity to visit Calgary, come here! :)
